Expectations:

This is an independent contractor position (receiving Form 1099-NEC rather than Form W-2).
This position requires about 2.5 hours of work onsite each Sunday (50 weeks/year plus two paid Sundays off), as well as additional preparation time that may be conducted on site or at home depending on circumstances.

Essential Duties:
Support the Director of Worship Music in every week’s regular Sunday services (10:00 traditional service and 11:30 family service) and seasonal/special services, including those in partnership with community and ecumenical partners.
Work cooperatively with the Pastor, Director of Worship Music, and church leadership to envision, plan, and resource current and to-be-developed music ministries at SACC.
Communicate and/or meet with the Pastor and Director of Worship Music weekly. either remotely or in person, to plan the musical portion of upcoming services, which includes planning songs that are appropriate for scripture and sermon message.
In coordination with the Director of Worship Music, prepare and rehearse all worship music during each week, creating or compiling arrangements, chord sheets, and/or lead sheets as needed for non-hymnal music.
Assist in planning, developing, and directing or co-directing (as needed) special musical projects, including but not limited to special events hosted by SACC, chamber groups, seasonal choirs, handbell choir, holiday services, and children’s music.
o With advance notice and agreement, accompany soloists or small groups for “special music” in Sunday worship (duty to be shared with the Director of Worship Music).
Provide worship music for services when the Director of Worship Music is unavailable. o Be prepared to lead worship music in the event of a musician
cancellation/absence.
With advance notice and agreement, play for special services such as funerals or
weddings when available.
Lead and inspire volunteer musicians within the SACC music ministry.
Minimum Requirements:
A compassionate approach that supports the theological mission of SACC and its love for all of God’s people
Team player that can engage the SACC congregation in participatory worship with an energetic spirit
Strong interpersonal communication skills via phone, text message, email, and face-to- face
Proficiency on at least one musical instrument
o Candidates proficient on multiple instruments may receive special considerationSufficient proficiency on keyboard to lead simple hymns from the piano or organ
Ability to read sheet music, lead sheets, and chord charts
Comfort with traditional and contemporary styles of liturgical music
Pass a background check
Compensation:
Salary negotiable, to be paid monthly on the first Sunday of each month
Two paid Sundays off per calendar year
Opportunity for additional pay as mutually agreed upon for additional special services,
such as (but not limited to) ecumenical services, funerals, and weddings
